Abstract

The use of demonstrative references in children's stories has been a topic of interest in the field of literature. In this research, researchers will analyze demonstrative reference in children story from Storyweaver employing the theoretical framework proposed by Sumarlam (2019). These techniques are used to analyze and categorize how translation equivalence works, affecting translation results, micro-units of text, and being discursive, contextual, and functional. The research highlights the structured nature of demonstration choices across participants and the role of semantic dimensions in these choices. The study reveals a deliberate and effective use of demonstration references, with a majority focused on indicating place (58.3%) and time (41.7%). Overall, the meticulous use of demonstrater references and translation techniques underscores the significance of linguistic and narrative elements in crafting compelling and culturally relevant child's literature. Using demonstrator references can also serve an educational purpose, helping children learn about deictic references and improving their language and cognitive development.
