Comparative study of Hope-Creating strategies in the Holy Quran and the Statement of the Second Step of the Revolution
Abstract
Hope, as one of the fundamental psychological and social constructs, plays a decisive role in the advancement of civilization and the maintenance of human psychological stability in the face of crises. In the Islamic belief system, the Holy Quran, through the explanation of cognitive and behavioral factors, has provided a basis for creating hope, and this has also been emphasized as one of the central components in the Statement of the Second Step of the Islamic Revolution, issued in 2019. The present study has been conducted with the aim of a comparative examination of hope-creating strategies in the Holy Quran and the Statement of the Second Step of the Revolution. The research method is descriptive-analytical and based on library studies. The findings of the research indicate that, first, the concept of hope and its derivatives enjoys a special status in the Quranic texts. Second, hope, considering its generating factors and obstacles, is divided into two categories: true and false. Third, the strategies for creating true hope in the Holy Quran are explained in two domains: cognitive, including monotheism, prophethood, resurrection, and the emergence of the savior, and behavioral, including remembrance, repentance, patience, and struggle. Finally, the results of the comparative analysis indicate that the components of hope creation in the Statement of the Second Step of the Revolution and the thought of the Supreme Leader are aligned with the fundamental Quranic propositions and are based on the same cognitive and behavioral structures.
