Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Management by Walking Around (MBWA) leadership style, administrative burden, and work motivation on the performance of elementary school teachers in Mataram City. This study uses a quantitative approach with an associative explanatory research type. The study population comprised all elementary school teachers with ASN status in Mataram City, and a sample of 263 respondents was selected using the Isaac and Michael formula. Data were collected through a Google Form-based questionnaire and analyzed using multiple linear regression with the help of SPSS version 29.0. The results showed that, in part, the MBWA leadership style, administrative burden, and work motivation each had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Simultaneously, these three variables also had a significant effect on teacher performance, accounting for 56.6%. The MBWA leadership style and work motivation had a strong influence, while the administrative burden had a lower but still significant influence. These findings indicate that improving teacher performance is not influenced by a single factor but results from a synergy among effective leadership, proportional management of administrative burdens, and high work motivation. This research provides implications that efforts to improve teacher performance should be carried out comprehensively by strengthening school principals' leadership roles, improving administrative management, and increasing teacher motivation on an ongoing basis.
